Eight ways mentors help us develop ourselves personally and professionally

The ECP-FG -network has launched our Mentor Program that will take place from fall 2020 until spring 2021. In the process, we received many applications from people from several areas and professions.

The main goal of this initiative is to support 5 projects created by ECP-FG members, to be developed with the guidance of ECP members in a ten-month mentorship program. Some of the areas that will be supported: visual arts, International collaborations, and project management, Cultural Diplomacy & Policy, Art Curating, and Museum Management, and Leadership for Intercultural Peacemaking.

ECP-FG promotes and supports cultural development in different aspects of society. One of them is education, as an important tool for social transformation. That`s why we think the Mentor program will contribute to the personal and professional development of our participants. They will learn from the experience of professionals from different backgrounds and countries.

This process will increase their confidence and help build a professional network, learning how to work efficiently, feeling empowered to achieve great things.

Here we present 8 reasons why having a mentor is important for your future.

1. They are usually experts in your field.

2. They are your biggest supporters

3. Mentors help you to widen your network.

4. They are free resources! and priceless experts to help those in developing years.

5. They can teach us to avoid mistakes that they may have done.

6. With them, we gain confidence, guidance, and leadership skills.

7. Mentors tend to provide information that may be hard to find, of information that is taught over time, rather than through a book.

8. Many mentors can turn into lifelong friends.
