“Hanami” is a Japanese tradition that consists in observing the blossoming of cherry trees. The blossoming period depends on many factors, such as the geographic area and temperature. But there is also another meaning to it; raising awareness on the brevity of life, seen in the fact that as soon as the cherry blossoms it falls from the tree. In my work I compare the pre-adolescence beauty of my sister to a flower, to the underlying melancholy, expressed by the Japanese term; the "Sakura". It highlights the aspect of life, that soon after the blossom period the flowers begin to fall from the trees.
